9N/2N with a late 8N engine I picked up today with equipment. He said it had not ran in a year are two cleaned the points choked the ell out of it and drove it on the trailer. I got home could not get it to start I think something is wrong with the choke flapper its not flooded... I wanted to drive my pick up but did not want to man handle the scraper blade (scratch my trailer) so the old 77 ford got a work out. I pizzed away a damm hour trying to avoid 540 ( A dang Toll road) I went places I never been before traffic was bad :(.... Under the tractor is a chain drag of some sort. I will check the engine out and see if it survives...

[b:8fefa8af55]Looks like a good haul of machinery.

Not a bad looking haul and a great looking hauler!
I can't answer your question on the lights.
They look similar to the ones on my Case.

Mr. McGhee is taking a long nap no hurry... My fire went out and life got in my way

What I know on this one I can not flood it I need to get the air intake pipe off and look at the choke flapper, check the fuel etc... When I did get it started I had to hold the choke a long time. It did drive onto the trailer no choke I think it has one weak cylinder.

I had an allergic reaction to amoxicillin Wednesday the steroids I am on are affecting my sleep I felt like I was on a hang over all day Saturday I did get a nice nights sleep last night :)... Getting old is a beach...

I brought that 77 Ford in 1980 gave $6300 for it and did not know how I was gonna pay for it... It has 135K on it all towing miles the only thing I have never had to go into is the transmission... I would have rather hauled it with my F250 7.3 tho  are yours :D

I had the same problem with my 2N a while back. Finally figured out the little spring on the choke flapper was broken not allowing the the choke to actually cut off the air supply. It now starts instantly, even in weather down close to zero.

Lookin good, Hobo.

I like the color of your buildings. Both of my pole barns are very similar colors.

A family acquaintance of mine was killed while riding on the back of a similar Ford wrecker when a car pulled out in front of them. The wrecker driver hit the ditch to prevent hitting the car, which did not stop. There were two kids on the back, both about 15 years old. One died. Yes, riding on the back of a truck of any kind was ill advised even in the mid 1970s when it happened but it was not uncommon at the time.

Update its not the choke flapper (did not check it tho) he said the dist turned when he was trying to get it started I just guess at it and got it running to load it up. Before I wore the starter out I popped the plugs cleaned them that was the 3rd time I had had them out #4 was always dry/wet 2&3 dry #1 normal ... Ran a compression check

1 & 4 100
2) 40
3) 60

OK whut did I do to get it started to load it, I advanced the timing big time it sputter to life so I grabbed the dist and jacked the timing up big time it sputter to life. I drove it around some today let it run for awhile

I Put it under the shed may pop the head off the first thing I noticed the grill is welded to the hood  I may just list it as is and move on with life it needs a brake job I had rather have the money than the brake job .... Its fun to tinker on'em but not the brakes unless its customer pay :)...

Question, it has a cast front axle support when did they go to a stamped steel axle support.
