hey fellows,I need a little advise.sorry I guess I meant a lot of advise, I have been having trouble with my 8N Ford, would start and run a minute or two and shut off, after a bit of adjusting for some time I finally got discourged, anyway it starts easy with just a little bit of choke, will run for several minutes and will shut of it sure sounds and acts like its starving for fuel,I gave it one and a half turns on the gas knob and 1 and a half turns on the air and from there plus and or minus a little in each diection, this is new rebuilt carbuerator,so was wondering if the float is not set correctly, can some one point me in the right direction for setting thef float,or any other suggestions that I might try, after it shuts down it will start right up again, help.

Is the carb new, or rebuilt? What brand/style is it?
If it is a Marvel Schebler carb or a re-pop of one, set the main
adjustment needle at 1 1/2 turns out and the air adjustment at
about 1/4 to 1/2 turn out to start with. The air screw adjusts air.
In for rich, out for lean. Mostly only effective below 500 RPM.

I agree with Bruce, check for spark when it quits. Free and quick.
If spark is good, then check fuel flow out of the drain plug on the
carb. Should run a pint in about two minutes with the shut-off
valve open two full turns. Catch the gas and check for contaminants.
Try running it with the air cleaner disconnected for a few minutes too.

This sounds like the issue I was having with mine when I first got it. It turned out the sediment bowl was missing the screen that covered the stand pipe, when tractor ran low enough to use the reserve it would run enough to run the gas out that just trickled into the sediment bowl....then die. I put a new sediment bowl it and runs perfect now.

i had the same problem - even with a new sediment bowl  it was incapable of moving enough gas thru the reserve pickup on the first try to start it after installation

my advice when i hear this description is to pour more gas in and try again. the last inch or so in the tank is only accessible thru reserve, assuming that, for some strange reason, reserve still works.
