TSX 38 carb

Was the TSX 38 ever used on Ns. The one I came across did not say M/S on the bowl or horn but has a brass tag on the bowl just like 33,or 241 and says 38.

The Marvel/Schebler TSX-38 model carburaetor, released as FORD p/n 2N-9510, used on the 9NBN Industrial Tractor and in late 1942, used on the Ford-Ferguson 2N Warhorse/Steel Wheel tractor. It was declared obsolete in late 1943 as was the steel wheel model, and Ford reverted back to the standard TSX-33 carb and other parts for the remainder of 2N production. The TSX-33 carb was also used on the early 8N models until about 1951, I believe, then was obsolete as Ford changed to the newer improved TSX-241 carb. The TSX-38 carb had the double-throw choke lever. I recently saw one in a group of 3 on fleabay go for $76. The double throw choke was so one line could be fed forward to the front RH dogleg so you could choke the engine as it was cranked with the special hand crank. Other than the double-throw choke lever, no other differences between the 33 and 38 carbs.

Excellent, it is the double throw. They want $50 for it, it is missing the float and needle and seat.Do you know if it will take 33 and 241 parts. And Thank you for the history lesson.

Yes, as I said, all parts are the same internally as the TSX-33/241. Carb kits are easily available at most Ford Tractor suppliers, but opt for the major kit with most of the parts for a rebuild. The TISCO kits usually don't have the brass float and brass venturi. Some other kits sold include the float. Don't use the plastic parts -junk. Finding a brass venturi is hard but they are out there. Do you have a wartime 2N model? If so, what is the serial number?
