8n brakes

If your sitting on the tractor it would be the left side brakes. The
fork that goes through the frame to the brake won't even touch the
brake pads. Can somebody give me an idea what the issue might. I'm
getting ready to change brakes and put new seals on.

Perfect timing ... I was just looking for some pictures to confirm the recently replaced brakes on my 8N were correct ... However, I am lost with the comment about 3 springs on the left and 2 on the right ... I replaced my left first - which had 3 springs just as the photo shows here ... I kept my right in place to use as a comparison as I worked ... I just went out and my right also has 3 springs - the one beside the adjustment screw and the 2 on the opposite side ... I also pulled the parts from the replaced left pads and there were truly three springs as well ... so what am I missing??

Nothing wrong w/ putting that third spring on the right. That's a left side in the picture. (see the L on the bolt heads?)
 
Can't really tell from your photo but are the ears thee on the cam shaft? How are the bushings for the cam shaft?
 
I've actually got mine apart and am working on the brakes. From what I've read here it seems some folks just add a third spring to the right side as long as it's apart. Nothing wrong with yours but a previous owner just added a spring to make it a little more responsive.
