Ford 8n Hitch weight capacity

The hydraulics are designed to lift 750# at the 3 point arms. As the w eight extends further back as in using a boom pole, the
amout of weight lift is less. As to weight on the drawbar, such as for a trailer or other non-3 point item, it will vary with what
you are trying to do. If you just want a weight for traction or a counter weight for using a loader, you can hang more than the
750#, up close. I would not attach a heavy "dead weight" like a large travel trailer tongue. It might hold the weight but the
minute you try to pull it you could be looking up in the sky. Be safe.

(quoted from post at 11:40:34 03/20/18) what i meant was how many pound trailer or how big of a trailer can i safely pull around the yard
epends on tongue weight of trailer and traction and........

What do you mean by "tipping" and what are you calling a "solid draw bar"? On an under the belly draw bar, I have put so much tongue weight as to bend the draw bar to about a 70 degree angle and not lift the 8N front wheels off the ground.

(quoted from post at 16:26:43 03/20/18) Under differential draw bar.
s I said, you will bend it before upsetting the tractor. Braking a heavy tow will be the weak link!! In the hills it can be very bad.

Obviously a cheap Made in China drawbar ;-)

robably....bought it in Oklahoma about 30 years ago. Just straightened it & still in use.

One thing you need to keep in mind also
is your brakes, 8N are not the best for stopping on a dime
so if your trailer is load going down a grade can be touchy
with weight pushing you .
