Leveling box

Has anyone added a leveling box to the left lift arm to get more angle on a blade or will things bind up?

The first 9N that I ever owned had a leveling box on both
sides, worked good, bought it about 27 years ago with a bush-
hog for $1300, drove it home about 18 miles, sold the 9N
later for $2000 and then I believe I sold the bush-hog for $350

My 51 8N had a leveling box on both sides when we bought it. It does come in handy. Gives about twice the range of tilt adjustment with a back blade.

OK thanks for the information. I want to be able to tilt the blade more for cleaning out ditches.

Hey Bob, I've been wondering where you've been. I kept hanging around that other site, until just last week. It finally got so bad, that I had to give up. I registered here and I'm amazed how busy it is.

This is a a good site and a lot of good people with a lot of knowledge and are willing to share.

No, not me, to answer your question, but on the very early 9N Ford-Fergusons the LH lift arm was threaded and adjustable, though limited.

Tim,
I did not know that about the early 9Ns.
Ford put an adjustable link on the 3000 and larger tractors. The bottom part is the same - R&L but no hand crank on the left side.

on my 2000 tn 75f new Holland I just used a turn buckle that was the correct size a lot cheaper got it from a rigging supply outfit

Yep, only the first early 9Ns, no idea how many, no idea at what s/n break point they changed; we think possibly only the first 400 or so, maybe up til the steel hoods were ready around s/n 700/800. It is one of those parts that was changed (and never documented) on the fly fast and furious in that first year. I figure it was something never used or deemed to much hassle to muck with. As production ramped up, they (Ferguson) were constantly seeking ways to cut costs and keep the production line rolling. This may have been one of them.
