8N and boom pole

So,
Just wondering if a boom on an 8N could rise high enough to pull something out of the back of a pickup truck? Actually, out of a Tacoma 4WD.

Thanks

May need to have something at hand to set it on. If you adjust high enough to lift something out of the pickup it may not drop low enough to set it on the ground. BTDT

Traktor,
Sometimes you might get just enough lift but not quite enough to clear the vehicle without banging around. When I brought my Spring Shank home in a full sized pickup, I lifted it a little with the boom then drove the truck out from under it. :)

I pole boomed the back have of an NAA into a full size 4x4 truck
with a 2N a few weeks ago so the answer is yes.

Got any pics of that Kirk? would love to see it

Sorry Nash but I don't have any photos.thought the guy was
coming with a trailer or I would have got my forklift
out.already had it hooked up to the 2n boom pole so I gave it a
shot. It probably would have lifted the front end off the ground
but I had the snowplow on the front. It barely make it on but it
did and I didn't need to get the forklift

A safety concern to keep in mind: with something hanging off the the boompole it makes the front of the tractor much lighter. The
steering will be much easier BUT you could also lose steering control if you turn too quickly. The load can shift to one side as a
pendulum and cause the front end to go where you don't want it to go. In close quarters that can be damaging to close items and/or
the tractor and/or YOU. Just be careful.

Wow, I bet that field cultivator really tears up the soil,
Someone spend some time building those shovels,
Good fine
I have an heavy AC field cultivator modified for 3 pt hitch but it has slim shovels,
However these shovels are about all my little TO35 wants,

Well Max . . .
Glad you mentioned that because it does really rip, but what I did just to see how things went was to remove all those handmade leggings when I replaced all the plow bolts in the sweeps — being uncertain as to what they were all about. I hung onto them of course and they are nice and heavy duty. I guess they were intended to serve as kind of moldboards.

My front shanks have the thick "chisel plow sweeps" that really dig in and the rear 4 shanks have lighter gauge sweeps with long wings that I saw were called "beet sweeps".

I've been trying to picture the path it would leave with those leggings on. For one thing it wouldn't leave a shank-wide cut in the soil behind the chisel plows. So it would push more of the broken soil sideways and the following rear sweeps would push that soil back where it came from . . . or something like that.

Here it is with the leggings taken off and after three or four passes in one of my gardens.

That is where my hydraulic top link comes in handy.
With weights added to the front bumper all is well.
I have a longer boom pole and a standard shorter
one too.
I went through the pain of live hydraulics.

I guess those sweeps are good for something if it were mine they would come off... I can see if I had a ruff yard I wanted to level and not dig deep they would be the ticket to break up the sod . I can not see the value in them to tear up the ground for a garden...

I ran over mine yesterday and sunk it DEEP to break up the hard-pan and mix in compost... In a few weeks I will flip it, disc and be ready to plant...

not only a full size 4x4 i have a 2" leveling kit with 35" tires on it. sorry i did't bring the trailer down but i cant imagine what my mpg would have been dragging a trailer behind me. bad enough i get 8.9 mpg as is. lol. we got the rear end in there with a little pushing and dragging.

I guess this isn't thread hijacking because the Boom Pole thread starter hasn't reappeared.
Yes I see how these points would work well for breaking up the surface. There's a 3 point blade sitting in the weeds up the road that I want to turn into a middle buster by using one of these shanks with the chisel plow sweep on it. They cut right in just like a chisel.

By "flip it" do you mean plowing?
As far as my limited cultivating experience goes . . . after I dragged it through the garden I found that my walk behind 5HP tiller just sailed effortlessly through the soil which was a treat.

But I can see your reasoning where pointed sweeps followed by disks (which I don't have) would be the way to go.

Thanks,
Terry

Flip it yes roll it over... If I would have plowed with a bottom plow I would have rolled over the grass (weeds) and had nice clean dirt no weeds :) I have not broke up the hard pan in a few years so chose to run the cultivator thru it DEEP,,,,, the bad after running the cultivator thru it when I flip it I will flip back over some weeds that got into the mix with the cultivator... Its gonna be a little trashy but that's the way it is...

I could spray it to kill off the trash and disc but the tractor driver (I am the tractor driver) needs something to do so I will flip it :)
