6V Generator/Regulator ID

This genny and VReg are on that little forklift I bought.
The generator is a two brush type, two terminals on the barrel
and the ARM terminal on the end. No Hi/Lo adjuster.

It isn't charging at the battery and is not easily accessible to motor test.
I will take the ARM wire off and measure the output of the genny
itself tomorrow when I'm out there, didn't get to do that today.

I'm questioning if the genny and VReg are matched as far as A
or B circuit. The engine is 8N but the VReg seems to be later?

Jesse nailed it. I googled the FoMoCo P/N and came up with this:

ITEM DESCRIPTION: VOLTAGE REGULATOR
VOLTAGE: 6
CIRCUIT TYPE: B-CIRCUIT
TERMINAL COUNT: 3
AMPERAGE: 38-42
TERMINAL ID: ARMATURE-FIELD-BATTERY
POLARITY: POSITIVE

Yep, JMOR got it -it's the NAA VR, 'B' circuit design, and by mid 8N production Ford did away with 3rd brush generators. If that VR turns out to be faulty, I'd buy it from you. Don't see many OEM VR's tagged like that.
