No Oil Pressure!

Tee fitting at back of block. One line goes to pressure gauge . Other line goes to oil filter. I took line that goes to gauge off. Started engine. No oil at all came out of the tee fitting. So. Can I get any suggestions of where to go from here? What to look at? Maybe pressure relief valve? Thanks. dogtired.

Try blowing out the oil line in case it's blocked.

Any unusual engine noise?

What caused you to pull off the oil line?

Have you primed the oil pump?

Is the oil pickup tube loose?

Assuming this is an N series tractor, you can try priming the
oil pump through the relief valve at the front of the engine.
Don't lose the spring and plunger behind the plug.

It is a early 8N. No rebuild. Been a few weeks since I last started it up. Has always had good oil pressure. I pulled oil line because there was no pressure showing on gauge. I figured the tee fitting coming out of the block was a good place to check if oil was coming out. Thanks.

These engines are notorious for developing problems that cause the oil pump to loose and/or fail to maintain prime. Do as Royse suggested and manually prime the oil pump. If that gets your oil pressure back you have issues with the oil pump.

if you're going to try to prime the pump via the hole the pressure relief valve sits in, bear in mind that u have to get the oil thru not only the first hole, where the plug has been removed, but also the second hole behind it that the spring-loaded plunger seats into.

the plug itself is 15/16". if u have a front mount distributor, u can take the coil off - gives u better access to that plug and keeps the coil from having something silly happen to it. just don't drench the distributor in oil ;)

i used a jug of 90W with a piece of rubber fuel line shoved onto the nozzle. feed that fuel line thru both the front and back hole, and squeeze in 4 or 5 ounces. then reassemble and try it, hopefully u have oil pressure again.

if u only get the oil thru the front hole but not the rear, all you'll do is pour that oil onto the timing gear and from there down into the oil pan. your timing gear might appreciate it, but it won't get u any oil pressure ;)

if this works, but then a while later u find u have no oil pressure again, chances are u have an oil pump rebuild in your future. if this doesn't work, chances are u have that rebuild in your [i:7fad7cbfc8]immediate[/i:7fad7cbfc8] future :(

if it works but only momentarily, u could have issues with the oil pickup.

Priming the pump is basic as several have suggested. Two hints - loosen the fan blade so you can access the front of the engine with a squirt can without any amputations and prime while squirting in oil. Take the spark plugs out and wind her up 30 second or so. That should prime it. If not hook it to a tow vehicle with plugs out and in third gear. Pull her with 1000-1200 rpm. Not cranked and running does not heat up the engine. Works every tine unless you have some serious oil pump or engine problem.
