Spreading Control Forks on 2N

So you can spread them over the control valve that inserts into the pump. I was chatting with Lawson about how difficult a job this is for a one man operation. With Hobo's help, I fabricated one of those hooks on a long steel rod and my son helped me get it together but it was a real PITA. Lawson mentioned a spreader tool that is no longer made which got me to thinking. It would be easy to modify one of those tools you use to compress a disc brake caliper that has a big knob for this application. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

I am thinking of using a short female threaded hex
rod with a slip joint u on one end and a threaded rod
with a u on the other end.
Hard to explain but you may get the jist of it.
I may use some scrap square tubing and cut to
make the u's. Will weld the u to the end of the
threaded rod.
Will have to be clever on the slip end u.
Might just use a short smooth dowel rod with a u that can slip in the hex rod for that end.

Make your own one hand spreader easy peasy.

In this pix the control valve is still attached to the fork dunno how it got there unless I took it out with out removing it from the fork...
I am bad to take the draft sprang off and the lift arms before I take a lift cover off a tractor I am going to part out, maybe taking it off gives you enoufh room to get the control valve out... You got yours off give it a shot...
