Reassembling after a transmission repair.
What oil is recommended for the
transmission/hydraulic/rear end? TSC has a
universal oil meant for hydraulic and
transmission, is this ok?

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys! I'm sure this question has been asked before but I can't find a way to search. Maybe it's just not available in the mobile site.

Go to Tractor Supply and look for Traveller Ford Tractor All Mineral 90 Transmission Fluid . I have been using it for the last 5 years and it works well

I use 90 wt. Mineral Oil from Napa...about $50

What climate are you in?
I use Traveller brand UTF from TSC. $35 for 5 gallons.

Its not the 90W mineral oil stuff. That seems to be way
too stiff for the hydraulics to work in the winter here in MI.

When I had 90W in mine, releasing the clutch after starting
the engine would bog the engine down and on really cold days,
nearly kill it. Even though the transmission was in neutral.
I wouldn't even think about starting the tractor without the
clutch depressed. Even with a 12V conversion.
New oil, no water or condensation in it.

It worked fine in the summer though, so it would probably work
fine in warmer climates. I've heard others in warmer climates
say they have less problems with the thicker oil leaking out.
I just fix the bad seals/gaskets that let them leak.

Thanks Royse,I appreciate the extra
question about climate. I too live in MI,
Lansing area. From the comments made, I'm
going with the universal oil. This tractor
has a loader on the front and a backhoe on
the back so would rarely be used in the
winter. Getting all the hydraulic systems
warmed up enough to use would be a long
project.
