Hi Nomden, don"t feel alone as to not understanding certain terms about tractors . There"s still things I don"t understand & I was raised around them as a kid . I even had a Dad who was a class #1 mechanic , but he wouldn"t teach me anything . So I had to learn what I know from asking for help from others & reading .Generaly asking questions on here & another great site dedicated to Ns is helpful & not degrading as the response you just got from Dell the self appointed butt-head . Not every tractor guy was so blessed with knowing all there is to know such as he . As I was growing up , my Dad belittled me constantly just like Dell just did to you & its totally uncalled . If you own a Ford tractor & have questions , read your manual as much as possible . Take care Nemod & God bless, Ken
 
It doesn't, you can still use the ammeter -I never said you have to replace it, but some fellas opt to install a voltmeter instead with an alternator. I merely said if he was selling the original 6-volt stuff I'd be interested in it...
