Someone didn't want to spend money to convert to 12 volts. Just
threw a 12v battery in it and used a battery charger.
Grandpa had a tight wad neighbor that had three Farmall H
tractors. Non of them were converted to 12 or had working
generators. He would use his 12v pickup battery in the H
tractors with the original 6v IH coils. He would put the battery
back in his pickup and let the pickup charge the battery when he
drove to morning coffee.
