What’s the going price for a 52 8N? 12volt. Alternator.
Mechanically good shape. Fires right up even after weeks of sitting. Looks good. Typical cancer on the hood right at the embossed “Ford.” Paid $3000 eleven years ago.

Thinking about moving up to a 641.

Most on here will tell you you paid top dollar for it when you bought it and you will be
very lucky to get that out of it.I am different than most but a 641 isn't much of a move up
as far as I am concerned. 4 speed with no Live PTO. A Hydraulic pump that is good when it
works properly but a lot of them don't. I'd keep the 8N myself if that is all the moving up
I could do.I have a 1952 8n with HI-LO Sherman and a 1964 2000 5 speed with 2 stage clutch.
Lot of difference in these two,but I wouldn't part with either one.

From the available information, you will do well to get $2,000 in my area.

I have a 52 with a Sherman combination and bit over 1,000 original hours. It is so tight that it steers and shifts hard because it is not fully broken in. I would not sell it for $5,000 but if I tried, I would be very lucky to get $3,000.

Condition of tires is a big factor too.
I'd say you paid about the going rate for it
when you bought it. Going rate is about $2K
here now.
But...
I always factor in how much work you got out of
it in those 11 years.
Did you get $273 out of it each year?
If so, you could give it away and still come
out okay. Not that you would but it's worth
considering.
I think a 641 is a pretty significant upgrade
from an N. Just having live hydraulics is a big
deal - at least to me.
I have always found those piston pumps to be
stunningly reliable. They used a similar piston
type pump all the way through 1975.
I just had one from an 860 apart this week.
They are very simple and last about forever.

Front three ridge tires have about 30 hours on them. Right rear is almost new. Left rear was new when I bought the tractor eleven years ago. Tires have never seen anything but a grassy meadow. And it’s always been kept in the barn.
I was hoping to get $18k for it.

Generally speaking, the going price of old work tractors is determined by 3 factors: location, location & location.

Your best source for that information is your local Craigslist.

The heyday of guys fighting to pay in excess of 3,500 dollars for a so-so '52 8N are long gone. Without seeing it and hearing it run 1,800 or there abouts is pretty close to what they fetch based on your description.

I got $3000 for my 1951 8N this fall and I delivered it for $150. I'm in Western Oregon

Is $18K the same as $18,000?

You could get that if you took $125.00 a month payments 8) . That's probably what has happened to the used tractor market , You can go buy a pretty new orange tractor that is perfect with no money down and a low monthly payment . They will even throw in a new trailer for a few bucks a month more .

I got my 3000 for $2k because it ran out of diesel ( and minor repairs ) and the owner could not get it started so he went and bought a new tractor .

nashranch "Google stake pocket d rings" they are handy...
I got 3500 for a 50 1/2 I did not make any money on it... I gave away all the time I had put into it. I have a 52 a 3000 several farmalls and a new bota the 50 and 52 were not used anymore. The 52 has not been started in several years I will say I liked the 50 it was the strongest N I have ever used. The guy that brought it plants 15 acres of deer corn turns the ground with a bottom plow
uses a 20 gang heavy disk he also harvest it with the N so it gets a good work out. The N does it all but spray weed control he farms that out.

A good strong N is worth 3500 and will fetch it when the right buyer comes along. I would have to know the owner and the N WELL to consider paying that much for one.

I should have said a late mode N I would not invest much in a front mount N... Sorry ft mount lubbers life's to short to rassel those distributors plus any upgrades that go along with a Ft Mt....
