pushing snow with back blade

yesterday I was pushing snow into the ditch and the blade went into the ditch. The ditch was 4 ft deep when I went to lift the blade it wouldn't lift. I drug it out of there and went home. I looked and the take off wasn't working ( lever was not engaged) I engaged the take off again. Tried to use lever to lift the blade and the control arm wouldn't move much. I stuck a lever in it while it was running and( pried forward) And it started working right.
I know the exhaust valve was stuck open. But did going into the ditch put the pump in a small bind? Or is the pump getting dirty. I cleaned it 10 years ago. But all I use it for is snow.

Only thing I can think of is to put your blade on level ground and adjust your top link so it just starts to pick up the blade.

Sounds like you may have bent the internal linkage that is connected to the Draft Control yoke. The lift was designed for pulling a plow forward and are somewhat sensitive to loading the lift while going backwards as you have found out.

I'm easily confused and am having a little difficulty understanding your symptoms - Would you take another swing at providing symptoms and troubleshooting efforts?

I was pushing snow into ditch. Tried to raise lift wouldn't work so I drug it home. The first thing I did was make sure the Pto was running. It wasn't (I don't know how it got moved) I pushed the clutch and engaged Pto tried lifting lever. The blade wouldn't raise so I then took off side plate tried Hyd touch control lever- The control arm wouldn't move. So I used a lever and pried the control arm forward. Blade would not lift- I unhooked the blade. Took it in Garage and raised and lowered the hyd touch control lever- The control arm started working. I had my wife stand on lift arm and it would pick her up. And it will lower. I hooked up blade and tried to operate it. It will not pick up blade. I shut off tractor and put my fingers down on Intake control valve. valve is moving. But will not pick up blade.

Move the Draft Control Lever to the Draft position. If it will lift your blade that tells us there aren't any hydraulic leaks and is likely a linkage problem.

If it won't pick up your blade in Draft mode; in all probability you have a leak somewhere.

Pull the right inspection cover, with some weight on the lift arms, raise the lift and look for leaks/drips inside. If the arms drop with tractor off or the clutch depressed, chances are you have a worn lift cylinder or piston (or both) or a leaky pressure relief valve. If oil is running steadily from the top cover the lift cylinder needs to be rebuilt. If no oil is running down from the top cover, look at the rear of the pump in the oil with the load still on it and see if you notice turbulence in the bottom. (Some movement of oil will be normal with the PTO shaft turning). You could have a weak pressure relief valve, which will be detected by turbulence in the oil. If you see turbulence behind the pump, raise the implement as much as possible, TURN THE ENGINE OFF then reach in and feel the end of the pressure relief valve. If it is leaking you will feel the pressure push your finger off of the end. All pressure relief valves that fail the finger test are bad & should be replaced. But, not all pressure relief valves that pass the finger test are good because some can have slow leaks. So, if all else fails to fix the problem, replace the pressure relief valve. To replace the pressure relief valve; remove the left side inspection plate that also holds the PTO shifter.

Thank you so much for your reply. I do have turbulence in the back of the pump. I do hope its just a $25 piece. I'll give it the finger test.
