No position control on 9N/2N tractors. Get some limiter chains and/or a Zane Thang...

TOH

Like TOH says, not designed to stay in one place. Only design for draft control. Draft control was very important when the 9N was introduced.
Raises the plow when it hits and obstruction. That is way better the the front of the tractor rearing up. You need limit chains or the Zane
Thang. It is a position control device that installs on the outside of the lift and gives very good position control.

Here is a link to Zane's web site.

Or if it's a finish mower consider spending the extra money and
add a front set of gauge wheels. This way you will be at the
right height all the time. And when you take the mower off for
the season the front won't be sitting on the ground and you can
just roll it around by hand if it gets in your way.

Kirk

kirk, help me out here. i have an old king cutter finish mower, and it has 4 wheels - well, 5, if u count the big roller at the front center. are finish mowers now made with only 2 wheels?

the idea of having to mow with something like that on my 2N is... disturbing.

Don't know about the new ones but there are still plenty of used ones around with two wheels. I just sold this ford 930A not to long ago. I myself have mowed with two wheelers with limiter chains
and 4 wheelers and I prefer the 4 wheel mowers.

As others have said, limit chain and/or ZaneThang.
I have the ZaneThang but still use chains from time to time.
