1948 8N 3 wire Generator rebuild

I'm in the latter part of restoring my late grandfather's 1948 8N. In the mid 70's, my father put a 12V battery on the tractor and completely fried the 6V Generator (actually caught fire)and wiring. I've been fortunate to obtain a new set of field coils and armature and was successful in removing the remnants of the old coils.

Does anyone know what the gap should be between the armature and the pole shoes? I understand that failure to have the correct gap could result in overheating (burning the unit up) or not charging.

I'd probably switch to the 6V 1 wire system or even 12V if it wasn't for my grandfather telling me how my dad ruined the tractor. So back to factory original it goes. lol

I have several original generators, completely rebuilt and ready to go. I have the correct, early 8N-10000-A generator; 3-wire/3-brush, with the correct original tensioning arm AND the correct voltage regulator all ready to go. My email is open...

Thanks Tim but I have all the necessary pieces already on hand to rebuild the original unit and am looking for advice in that department rather than purchasing another unit.
