Hi,
I need a new hydraulic pump for a Dearborn loader on my 8N. I don't have an id number for the loader, but it is the typical one you need to climb over to get to the seat, and the bucket is hydraulic dump. The front pump bolts up to the frame through 2 bolts that holds it suspended where it connects through a shaft to the crankshaft pulley. Are there pumps around that can be bought new that will bolt in the same configuration and line up (to a reasonable degree) with the crankshaft?
The old pump got damaged when the shaft connector came loose resulting in a bent shaft. I just tried another identical pump that was sitting around that came off an Oliver super 55 loader, but it doesn't pump anything when running on the 8N (I've never used this pump before). I double checked the direction of rotation of the 8n and oliver crank, and they are the same.
I suppose it is possible the pump I got with the oliver loader (got it separate from tractor) is actually from a different tractor. The pump appears identical, but is it a simple process to see if it actually pumps in CW vs. CCW direction (maybe by turning by hand with some oil in the return), and can it be easily reversed if that is the problem? It just seems strange that I get absolutely nothing when it is running, not even any noise.
The other question is related to the rotation. The crankshaft pulley rotates clockwise when looking at the tractor from the front. Is the pump considered a CW or CCW rotation? I'm assuming CCW since that is the direction it is running if you were facing the front of the pump (i.e. shaft side).
