2N Distributor Copper Strip Question

Good morning, I did not see my question in any of the threads, so:
I am in the process of changing the ignition points for my front-mounted, 6 volt 2N and wanted to know: how exactly does one go about changing out the thin copper strip linking the condenser to the points? The old strip appears to be attached on the left side by a hollow rivet (into which the special screw threads in), rather than a screw, and I didn't want to break anything or make some change I couldn't correct. Are there any suggestions as to how to remove that strip's left side?

Thank you!

irst of all, don't replace it if it is not broken. If broken, I would trim it off neat & close on the left so as to insure no short to metal parts & then install a new strip under the screw with condenser wire. You can obtain a new strip from the old points assembly.

Thanks. I was going to replace it, as it shows some green corrosion and I had a new one that came with the tune-up kit. I'll leave it alone for now.

I've never seen a kit w/ replacement strip. Where did you get the kit?

Just check the strip when you do your continuity check before you put it back on the tractor. Green is fine; cracked isn't!

It was this guy, from this site: http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Ford-2N_Tune-Kit-Basic_ATK6FFR.html

Thank you!

It's coming up with an error message, but it's on the yesterday's tractors site listed as "Ford 2N Tune Kit, Basic"

Go figure!

I don't think so, as it's the exact same size as the old strip, with a hole at each end for the contacts. I'll take a look when I get home.
