'39 Aluminum hood auction

A friend texted me and the Auction's over the '39 aluminum hood bought $9450. I would have thought it would have bought less then half that price because of all the non early '39 parts that had been switched out.
It only takes two people who want it to turn it into stupid money. Hope the buyer knows what he's doing.

The winning bid was done by phone I heard. It occurred to me that maybe the buyer knew all the wrong things on it -like the serial number being falsified -but only wanted the aluminum hood for a real '39 project he had going. We'll have to wait and see but $10K seems hefty just for a hood. The hood and fenders were about the only original early '39 9N parts on it. We know for sure now that that 9N-501 is a bogus number so BOLO for it in the future...

I'd love to find one someday, but at that price, I'd still not own one.
Seems like the auctioneer did his job and got the right people to bid.
