Bought this about three weeks ago, and just now got some half-way decent weather to go get it.
Only BAD thing about it....It didn't come with a tractor!!! Hard to find around here, and not cost an arm & a leg.

Next stop..... this next spring....take it all apart for clean-up and repairs, then if, I can't find a low cost loader tractor, it will go on Hermie, the 2N!!!
I know, I know.....not a good Idea, but ya gotta do what you can afford!!!!
Work as I can..... & see what happens!!!

You will like the step through the side model much better than
the jungle gym pipe style loader like some of the Wagners.
Regardless of what tractor it eventually goes on.
We've talked about these many times. Glad you got it home.
Don't be climbing up there to shovel the snow off it! :p

this should keep you out of truble for awhile. Have fun with it.

I hope you got all the mounting brackets.
b:5919ea7acd][i:5919ea7acd]

Well, Not all the brackets!! :( Still need to fab up the two for the back points.
I had contacted a member here (???? Ranch???) ( MY memory is out to lunch).....anyway, I ask him for and received pix from him, with his rear and front brackets.....same mod/make as this one....really clear/close-ups of them.
Not much to fab. easy peasy!!!
All the front mounts are there, and just need to be cleaned up. New bolts all around, bang out a few dents, paint it, and should be good to go!!!

This loader is self contained.....NO hydrol's needed!! (resiv is the front pipe frame). Pump is almost new, and controls have just been recently rebuilt.
Was running good before removal from a tractor.
I'm thinking, it was a dang good buy, for the $500, I gave for it!!!

Glad to hear you can fab the rear brackets that you need. A loader is really such a handy thing to have. How wide is that bucket?

41" outside to outside. Small enough to keep the load down, but wide enough to be just outside of the front tires, of an 'N' tractor.

t is almost as good as having a field hand with you all the time.

A good field hand is far more versatile than any loader

here will be a difference though in getting the job done vs getting the work done.

You ll need to stock up on front radius rods...loaders have a tendency to bend them ...the left one usually goes first. I ve never seen them bend down...they bend up; kind of like when we had to chain down the left side of the engine in our drag car...the torque just affected the left side. hth

TomT

Tom,
If you are bending radius rods on an 8N consider using a pair from an early 3000.
They are a direct fit onto an 8N and they are substantially heavier.
By some 3000s I mean, they have to be a pre 1969 model.
The 3 cylinder 2000s are the same.
Of course if you start using your N like it's a D8 Cat you'd likely rip the ball socket out of the transmission and then you'll be sorry. But under normal use you'd be okay.
In mid 1968 the Ferguson patents ran out on these tractors so Ford went back to hooking the radius rod to the axle knee like the 9/2s had instead of hooking it to the center axle like they had to do from 48-68.
I don't know if a post 1968 rr will fit on a 9/2 but suspect it might as both had the longer fork in front.
The 9/2 and Ferguson axle was better as you did not have to disconnect the yoke to change front axle width from widest to narrowest.

Ultradog, thanks for the great info...I had no idea ford would make something heavier to make it better. about 20 years ago I bought a 9n with a Davis loader, and front pump already installed...It even came with bent radius rods. The Davis loader was made in Wichita, and was of the step through design...very well built. a few years after I bought the tractor, I ran into the previous owner and asked him what he used the tractor for when he had it...guess what!!! he used to load semi trailers with gravel...The tractor was pretty much worn out when I bought it, but I used it about 3 more years before I sold it...I got the 1700 bucks I paid for it, so I considered myself lucky.

Here's a pic of my 8N with a Davis loader on it.

I also have a 1958 MF202 Workbull. You see the loader is the same. I understand that Massey Ferguson bought out the Davis Loader company.

The loader on the workbull is a little better in that it has double acting cylinders.

There is also a pic of a Davis Loader by itself.
