Trouble still with the 8N 1952 model tractor after sr#263xxx. When using it last i had trouble with the points slipping, frequent need to adjust. Later that day realized that the screw that tightens the Retaining Plate, (Fig. FO 84 , page 58 of the FO-4 Shop Manual, is stripped out. ie when I realized it was not tightening anymore , but merely turning, i removed the screw and the threads were full of aluminum. So it doesn"t really tighten nor retain the position of the distributor. Looking on lie for suggestions for such a problem, JB Weld, don"t want to seal the screw in permanently, another was just to put some strands of copper electrical wire into the hole and it should tighten up. I will try that , however if someone has another suggestion I would appreciate it,
It will be about a week before I get back to the country to work on it again.
Thank you
