I would think ts more like you Bendix is not engaging. Could be pin broke or its stuck for some reason. Need to pull it out and test it with the battery.

Yeah we thought that too at first. Put a brand new bendix on and same thing.

Quick79,Remove the starter and check for a spinning starter ring gear that was improperly put on the flywheel.To check it remove the starter,mark it and the flywheel and use a big screwdriver or pry bar through the starter hole to bar the engine over with the ring gear,watching for it to slip/spin on the flywheel.
