8n hydraulics

I recently purchased a 52 8N.The hydraulics were in-op due to frozen quadrant linkage from sitting. I removed the top cover in order to free the linkage and while I had the cover off I replaced the piston rings and gaskets. After I got that freed up I could not get the pump to build pressure I removed the pump and found a lot of sludge and debris in the bottom of the case. I clean the case and components and installed a comprehensive rebuild kit in the pump ( new pistons, plates and valves and pressure relief valve ), cleaned both intake and exhaust valves and adjusted the draft and quadrant per the OE service instructions. The unit engages with the PTO and the scotch yokes are moving but I still have no fluid (0psi) at test port. It appears the pump is air bound. Is there a procedure for bleeding the system? ( the lift cylinder does pass the air test for leakage )

You don't need to bleed or prime pump it sets in oil and is self priming. Take side cover off and check to see if control arm is opening intake valve.

I have the side cover off and you can move the valve with the control or manually and it doesn't change the pump

No need to prime it since it is submerged in oil. I have never rebuilt one, but I did a thorough cleaning on one that took about 30 secs for
it to build up pressure. Did you check thoroughly for cracks in the pump?
