Any experience with the new replacement 8N hydraulic pumps?

Has anyone any experience with how the new replacement 8N hydraulic pumps that are sold on this website work out? I'm to the point where I either need to either rebuild mine, or replace it outright.

I have no experience with the pumps in question but have had very bad experience with aftermarket parts in general.

Why do you believe that you need to rebuild or replace yours.

It has passed the point of thumping when I raise an implement. It is now banging so loud I'm scared to start it.

Hi Gary; Hope you are making out alright with the fires out west. The Oliver carb ran great until one winter when after I drained it, the air intake flooded out with water due to mice chewing through the tarp and back filled the carb with water which froze. Then just recently, I took that TSX33 that had been damaged by the Postal Service you rebuilt down off the shelf, to replace the bent up linkage and put it on the 8N while that carb was with Lawson for a rebuild. It runs so well, I left it on even after Lawson sent the other carb came back.

I would pull the pump, evaluate best avenue to pursue before buying any parts. SEE my post below to Kenster. I concur todays after market/Cheena made parts are sub-par and probably will never be right. I don't know of anyone who has replaced the entire pump with a new one but would love to hear from anyone who has. As with any project, determine root cause issues first, then evaluate best course of action. If pump housing is cracked, I'd consider buying an original used one and rebuilding it before buying a whole new unit as advertised, but that is me. A herky-jerky lift action can be caused by a few issues - bad chambers, bad cylinder, and more. You may discover just a simple rebuild will fix all the problems and for less than you think. get the manuals, get the video from this site by J&D Productions if you want to do it yourself. Also look at my article I wrote on the other site. The hydraulic pump project isn't terribly difficult if you are mechanically inclined, it is just time consuming as pulling the top cover off and if need be, dropping the pump, is involved. I don't go into dropping the pump in my article but in hindsight I now recommend it strongly. I also strongly suggest you replace the hydraulic cylinder with a new one, use the NAA piston and O-Ring w/ Leather Wiper, and use the old cylinder as a boat anchor, especially if it used the old 3-ring piston. Since you are going through the trouble of removing the unit, why not fix it right the first time and be done with it for another 25-30 years. Believe me you don't want to have to pull the top cover a second time.

Gary is such a cool dude, his very presence put those fires out! :p

I hope that pump works out well for you John.
I have some pump parts here, including one complete pump.
Shipping on a complete pump would probably eat up any savings
over buying one from a tractor boneyard locally though.

a friend of mine bought one of the new china pumps i tried to get him to let me get him a used pump but he bought a new one any way about 600.00 in new pump
didnt fit right pumped up but wouldnt lower properly the company he bought it from said return it shipped it back finnally they said it was damaged in
shipping and would not return his money got a used one from my friend for 125.00 he is happy he can use his tractor no way would i buy one from the land of
almost right

I would rebuild the pump. Get new chambers though. New chambers and a rebuild kit will run $400 or less. After all that is in, the only thing
left original in the pump will be the offset cam, and the frame its all mounted to.

I have a very good used pump cleaned inspected and ready to go. $500 includes shipping.

Thank you for the offer, but I'm now somewhat looking forward to the experience of rebuilding my own pump. :)
