Dust cover for points

My neighbor just bought a 46 9 N. I put points and cond in and got it running. My question is the dust cover is gone behind the rotor. I was going to make one from a cork sheet. Do you think one thickness is enough. The sheet might be 1/16 thick.

t was made of a hard/stiff phenolic material. Not confident cork is stiff enough to keep from being fodder for rotor??

look to left under Tractor Parts. Go to Ford, 2N and look under engine gaskets. Auto parts store might come up with it. Should be included in distributor gasket set

Cork will get you a no-go.

The oem dust cover on the front mount was thick paper.

The oem dust cover on the side mount was plastic.

It probably needs gaskets anyway; the gasket kit for the frontmount comes w/ a dust cover.

Dust cover comes in the distributor gasket set. Runs around $4-
5.

My 9n has a plastic dust cover. The kit will have one made of
heavy paper which will work fine.

There are 4 gaskets for the Ford N-Series Tractor front mount distributor. The round black paper one is the internal dust cover over points etc. and install before inserting the rotor. There is a cork gasket that goes under the coil as it mounts to the unit. I use a dab of Blue Gasket maker on it just to hold it in place when assembling. There is another black paper gasket that goes between the unit and the front of engine where the distributor bolts up to. Finally, there is a round cork gasket that goes on the cap. SEE HERE ====>
