yesterday i had to grade about a half mile of fire escape road for a customer, heavy rain had ruined it so it wasnt passable, last year he had hired somebody a buddy knew who had a grader, .... all he managed to do was blade 8 dump trucks loads of base course down the side of the mountain,now most of it was mountain side broken bedrock,this 12 foot wide road is literally carved into the side of a mountain, one side solid wall the other a 200 foot drop, i needed a d-6 cat, what i had was my jubilee and a 5 foot box blade with 250 lbs of weight, on it, it worked that old ford hard! but even pulling up car tire size bolders with only 2 rippers down, [ more than that just stuck the tractor] , [ had to get those out of the way by hand] after 7 hours i had a road that a car could get over, slow, and going down hill only, but thats exactly what that road is for, and its been used to escape fire twice, [ plus as a access road by 4x4 trucks, which it isnt made for ]
