Think I got my axles too tight when I did the seals

If I didn't use enough shims when I installed my axles, will it damage the axles or differential? Is it something I need to correct immediately?

I did follow the procedure in the I&T FO-4 manual when I assembled it; the wheels did turn in opposite directions and there seemed to be a small amount of end play on each axle.

Now the tractor wants to crab-walk a bit, and something seems to be dragging at a certain point in the rotation of the rear wheels. It took awhile for this symptom to occur after I did the axle seals.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

Before I reached the conclusion that axles too tight (not enough shims), I would jack up both wheels and try spinning again. Could be a brake problem?
