I need a memory jog. I'm getting 12v up to the ammeter from the starter relay but nothing past that. I've cleaned terminals and connections. When I jumped bat to coil it did fire off for a couple of revs but nothing after. Good hot bat Ammeters can't go bad and keep it from firing can they?

"Ammeters can't go bad and keep it from firing can they? " Ammeter, post to post, is about as low resistance as a heavy piece of wire, so to rule it out, just wire the two posts together or put all ammeter wires on just one ammeter terminal.

What tractor you have?

I have had two tractors where the amp meter terminals corroded
to the point current wouldn't flow through them. A new gauge
fixed the problem.

Well, finally got the time to troubleshoot and found ants in the distributer. I knew it was something simple but not that simple. Got it running and barely got my hands dirty. Dizzy cap was full of them. I'm glad I had the inside cover on. All I had to do was shake out the ants. Farred rite up.

ell all is well that ends well, but it leaves the question of why voltage on one side of ammeter but not the other? Imagination?
