OT (ins. rant)

first thing; I have no one to blame but myself.

last month I backed into a tree and dented the bumper on my p/u. a week later I backed into a dumpster, ANOTHER
DENT.

got an estimate from a ford collision center on Tuesday. they wrote it up as one claim.

talked to state farm rep. today and told her I had two separate senior mishaps with the truck. she informed me that since there was two separate incidents it has to be written up as two separate claims which means two deductible payments by me.

like I said nobody to blame but me but I sure wish I had reported the damage as one incident.
in other words I should have lied my butt off.

Hmmm...

Have the repair shop write it up as two separate repair estimates (it will cost more). See what the insurance rep thinks of that!

Maybe then she'll be willing and able to deal a bit.

Is the repair to the bumper only?
If so, I think I'd argue the point.
Two deductibles for one part? Doesn't seem right.
They're not paying to have it replaced twice.

Not likely. their ultimate goal is to raise his premiums

Seems two claims VS one would further that goal.

I do not report minor claims (at fault) to my insurance company. Rather, I self insure for such claims. This is why I carry $1,000 deductible for collision.

You might want to consider doing the same.

Yes, But I doubt she would be willing to deal

No way would I turn in a banged up bumper into the insurance company especially if it's my fault.

have not turned it into ins company. just spoke to the gal at the office. will most likely replace the bumper on my dime. (248.00) the 1/4 panel dent is barely visible so will try to ignore it.
