2N rebuild update

So I got the tractor split and the engine on the stand in the shop. Found a couple of pleasant surprises. Somebody has done a rebuild and bored the cylinders for the cast iron sleeves. Also done the adjustable lifters. Found the head gasket was leaking and all valves, both intake and exhaust were covered in thick carbon. Probably not seating very well. I haven't put a mic on the cylinders but there is absolutely no ring ridge. Those are the pleasant surprises. Cleaning up the oil pan today and found this. Doesn't look like its been leaking, saw no oil on the outside. Just concerned about the crack growing and giving me problems down the road. Any suggestions on how to repair this? Thanks in advance.

Crack appears to be on both sides of the hole. You already have it off I would replace the pan. Ain't that much money. Might save you a split later on.

KirkWest,If you can' easily find a oil pan, your cracks can easily be brazed up.I have brazed many of them cracked just like that one no problem with good results and no leaks.

Post a pix of the front and rear were the oil seal fits. If the corner is broke on either that's and that crack is a good excuse to replace the pan. If it has a loader replace the pan if not and that's all you see wrong with it yes it can be repaired.

I would replace the pan and never look back myself...

Yes, it had a loader on it. I'm thinking about leaving it off and going with a three point scoop. The only other damage is the inside of the rear oil seal. Didn't seem to be leaking there when I pulled the engine. Ebay has a few but shipping is pretty pricey.

I am not going to say that is a deal killer I would replace it... Where are you located I have a pan... I don't like to fudge with shipping

Next question. Cam gear shows +.005. I searched the archives but could find nothing on this. What does this mean?

You can fix both of those. Much faster, cheaper and giving yourself greater satisfaction. Easiest to just buy one and forget it, true.

What part of Colorado? I am in Cahone, 10 miles south of Dove Creek. I have oil pans both there and here in Flagstaff, AZ. Lots of 8N parts, oil pans should be the same.
