Help identifying 8n loader

Hello all! I have been looking around recently for a loader for my 8n. I got the tractor for $1k, I'm going as cheap as I can

NOW I KNOW the 8n isn't the best for a loader blah blah blah... I'm not buying a separate loader tractor right now.

So, on that note.....

Besides the n being a "small" tractor, why else shouldn't I put a loader on it?

- How hard is it to attach and remove the loader?

- Can you tell me what loader this is by the picture?

Doesn't have brackets with it but I can fab them up if I had a few pictures.

It's for sale near me for $400, doesn't have a pump for it, not sure if it had one from factory or not. I planned on putting a cheap hydro system on my n to run this and other attachments.

Looks like a Wagner wm-3 also known as a Jungle Jim because of the way you climb on over the back.

That appears to me to be a Wagner WM3 loader. Expect to spend another $400+ to get it mounted and operational so it is going to be an $800+ loader by the time you are done. IMO without the missing items it is overpriced by a couple hundred dollars. Attaching/detaching that loader is not a 5-10 minute deal and once they are on most folks leave them on.

Physically an 8N is more than large enough for a loader. Some reasons it s not a very good loader tractor are:
  • No power steering and the added front end weight makes the tractor very hard to steer both with and without a load in the bucket
  • Poor (high) gearing makes loader work in cramped areas difficult
  • The added weight combined with poor brakes makes an 8N even more of problem to control on sloped ground./list]All of those observations come from first hand experience.

I have had 2 ns with Wagner loaders one was a wm3 like yours and the other was a wm4 with down pressure both came off I will say fairly easily but you need a means of lifting it such as a chain fall or comalong. after removing the 4 bolts at the rear axle and the bolts at the front bolster let the front down enough to clear under the front axle and raise the rear to just off the rear axles then back out from under it. Sounds real easy don't it, I find it isn't as bad as all the fretting you do before you get started it looks worse then it is. Mine has the pump on the front so you have to remove it first with the shaft that attaches to the Crank shaft pulley. I believe The Old Hoakie on this sight makes the hanger bracket for the front and I think he also has a means of mounting the pump. The shaft and pulley adapter can be purchased from this sight. Good luck. HTH.

Thanks for the info TOH. I figure you or someone else would have first hand experience with it. If I could find a cheap fixer-upper front loader on a heavier/better suited tractor for cheap then I would rather go that way. I could live without the loader but at some point I'd like to get one so I don't have to ask my buddy when I need to barrow one haha just figured this one was cheap so figured I'd so before I Jump at it

Thanks guys

Those are $50.00 to 100.00 loaders around here. I think I still have 1 back up in the timber that came off 1
of the thousands of n fords I have hauled to the scrap yard.
