Tractor is a 1952 8N after serial #263xxx, side mount distributor.
Problems: using the tractor earlier this week it would almost stall out, I checked the points and each time they had closed in, and after opening and retightening,
it would work well for a while and stall almost again. The cap had chips in the contact area so replaced it and broke a rotor. Then noticed that the "points" were
180 off. Now instead being at 6 o'clock they were up at 12 o'clock. The plate they are mounted on is tight, nothing loose, and the distributor housing is still very
tight, cannot be turned by hand.
Before I make it worse, is the solution perhaps to pull the distributor and re-set, as in the Archives, of 04-23-2003 EvilSteve reply to RayPHX.
The tractor is 150 miles away so it will be a week probably before I can back up there to work on it.
Thank you.
