Pulling on stuck tractor

Looking for advice on pulling out a stuck 2n

It can't be pulled out to the rear - is it okay to pull from the bumper or front axle?

As long as you pull, not jerk, yes. Use the traction the stuck
tractor has left to help and lift the implement as far as possible.

(quoted from post at 21:47:20 09/24/17) I have had to disconnect implement & pull it out separately.

same here. that was something i hope to never need to repeat - especially in february up here, like the first time.

Wasn't much fun to unhook and pull this 42.5' cultivator out, either! Much less jacking up the tongue and hooking it back up! (Photos from the early 80's.)

ouch, bob. i'm thinking that required a bit more effort than my six foot blade

take another shorter chain with hooks on each end with you.
tight loop around the axle just outside of the bumper, both sides.
Pull from the center of the chain triangle.
Evens out the strain.

If you can get under the front, most Fords have openings in the front cradle where you can hook a grab hook. Much stronger pull point.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. Got a local towing guy to come out and hook up his winch and pull while I rode spinning my wheels in first. I'd say it was 6" of movement before the tires grabbed traction and coated my legs in mud.

There is a small round swamp in the corner
of my property that gets me just about
every year. I always try to brush hog as
far into it as I can which varies from
season to season and year to year. Some
years I can mow pretty far into it. Others
not so much. But I have been stuck in
there I'll bet a dozen times. So I never
go up there without bringing about 40' of
chain and a nylon strap in case I need it.
My cousin lives across the road so I have
my pickup hooked up to the tractor and all
he has to do is give me a tug and I can
get out.
Sometimes I think the swamp has evil
intentions and reaches out and grabs my
tractor.
Anyway, Glad you got yours out.
I guess it's all part of the fun.

Just curious. What were your grading? I try not to grade my pampas grass or cat tails. They're kinda self leveling.

I have winched out a many stuck pieces of equipment.... If I need a driver my first rule DON'T SPIN THE DAMM TARS... Truth be know I don't need a driver You want the tires to roll out and not keep digging a ditch... One of my first jobs was a ride along shovel man getting heating oil/propane trucks unstuck... They are heavy and will keep dig'N in deeper as long as you spin the wheels... I would dig a trench in front of the rear wheels so the tires would roll out... Sounds crazy but they were stuck in a mans drive you wanted to lessen the damage... Out in the middle of no were damage control was OFF...

You were lucky it was a N and lite...

"my first rule DON'T SPIN THE DAMM TARS"

Now Hobo, you know this isn't right!
The first rule is that you spin them until the axles are on the ground.
That way the tow-ee can pay the tow bill plus pay the tow-er to
fix the damage done when the tow-er pull it out and tore off parts.
You own a wrecker don't ya?
Sorry, just my warped sense of humor. ;)
