Compact Tractors: Trade-in Value?

As mentioned in other threads, YT doesn’t really have a Compact Tractor board, so this one will have to do. Earlier this month we discussed Kubota tractors and I am getting ready to do some serious shopping among the several dealers within an hour of my residence. I have a Ford 1900 to trade. Is there a place to go to get an approximate value for this tractor, a Blue Book for tractors? I know what I paid for it years ago, used. But, I really don’t know the market on it today. Thanks for any advice!

Go to tractorbynet.com for advise concerning compact and sub-compact tractors.

Watch and read for awhile. There are some knowledgeable folks there but there are also lots of not so knowledgeable folks.

IMO dealer trade in on tractors, especially a nearly 40 year old tractor, is much like automobiles. If you have the time you will likely come out ahead selling it yourself and haggling with the dealer on the price without trade of a new one.

Without a loader and good condition you are probably looking at something in the $4000-$5000 range for a private sale.

No dealer is going to want this on his lot so he will not really allow you anything for it. The condition of the tires and whether or not it is FWA affect the value a lot.

Thanks, TOH. It's in decent shape and does have a loader.

Thanks, showcrop. Not FWA and tires in good shape. I bet you're right. Probably could do better just listing it locally and setting it in the front yard with a for sale sign on it!

About 10 years ago I paid $6,000 for it. Had some power steering issues, but all fixed. Replaced two tires. Guess I'm just trying to figure out what a reasonable selling price would be. Looked on a local sell sheet, but did not see any other Ford 1900's.

Tractor House has 5-6 but only two have prices on them. They are 2WD. They are priced at $4.000 IIRC. Tractor House prices have always appeared to run about 20-25% above what anything is likely to sell for.
