I raked yesterday, and we had another perfect haying day today, so around 4:30, I set to it. As I have beans on most of the field right now, this is only a couple acres worth.

Got it picked up in short order (52 bales of *very* nice alfalfa) and gave the cows a treat before tucking everything back in the barn.

We were starting to get the first outer wisps of Irma's cloud 'arms' as I finished up. My brother in Daytona Beach made it through safely (they stayed), said they had 112mph wind gusts. Some minor damage to their house but no flooding, thankfully.

My son in Charleston made it okay, too. He's a filmmaker/videographer and shot some B-roll in town that made The Weather Channel today, so pretty big for him! Said there was bad flooding in town.

Finally, another brother in Waynesboro, GA sent pics of a lot of downed trees and blown out store signs.

Praying for folks who were impacted, and especially for those with the gargantuan task of cleaning up and rebuilding.

Nice pictures Ed. I always enjoy them.
I'm glad to hear your family is all safe and will join
in your wishes and prayers for those less fortunate.

(quoted from post at 20:52:58 09/11/17) Ed, looks like you have gotten some rain in your part of Illinois. It is very dry here near Effingham so only 2 cuttings of hay this year.

We had a cool summer with "just enough" rain to keep crops in good shape. It was actually a challenge to get my hay up in-between periods of rain - I would have liked another day on the ground at least for my last three cuttings (they turned out okay).

It was very spotty, though - more than once, we'd get 3 or 4/10 and a farming friend 20 minutes away would get nothing.
