8N starter drive roll pin

The roll pin broke on my starter drive it looks to be 1/4 in. Does anyone know what size it is or where to get one.

NOT sure how you would break that pin, and I thought is was simply a hardened steel pin, NOT a "rollpin".

But I've been wrong before, and I'm tired as 'ell as I type this.

Your FIAT dealer will have the correct pin (5211365B) available for the ridiculous price of darned near eleven bucks!

"Never saw a roll pin in one. Solid hardened pin like Bob said. Starter shop should have one."

I've been waiting on someone to ask this question as my starter pin sheared. So, if we do not have a starter shop close, where would we buy the hardened pin?
Thanks,
Copperhead

If yours had a roll pin instead of a solid pin, chances are it is time to replace the complete bendix.

If you GOOGLE "5211365B" many sources will appear, starting @ $4.89. That part # was used in Ford autos of the era, as well.

he roll pin had been in mine for 35 years I've owned it. I did put one of the new bendix on it years ago it had a solid pin, but the gear shelled on it after a few starts. I put the original back on after that.

(quoted from post at 17:51:57 09/10/17) Edit button doesn't work I meant to ask which do I need the harden pin or roll pin.

Roll pins are made of tempered spring steel, and are easier to find. I wouldn't think one would break, but I've been wrong before. If it was mine I would go with the roll pin with thoughts of replacing it when/if it breaks sometime in the future.
