Ok, first off the only thing I know how to do is change plugs, I know nothing about the points or any electrical
stuff, (maybe I shouldn't own one of these 8N fords 6 volt) my cousin used to do that stuff for me, maybe I should
have paid attention to what he was doing, he went and died on me, now for the problem, last two times I had the
tractor out brush hogging it wouldn't start up, I read on here to take a piece of paper and open points and drag
paper through the points, I did that and it started up, well this morning no start, tried the points thing and still
no start. Im lost now, it turns over fast, but no spark to plugs, Im open if someone is willing to come and help me
get it running, please dont be to hard on me.

The very first thing you need to do is find out if you have battery voltage to the coil.

If you do, the problem is in the distributor. If that's the case, we can walk you through changing the points.

Got a meter?

Test light?

If not, go buy a meter because you're going to need it. $10-15, Wally World, HF, etc

And we need to know where the distributor is on the engine; the very front under the fan, or on the side?

Thanks Bruce (VA) Problem solved got it running, I was telling a friend about it, he put in points, condenser, cap and rotor,(watched him put in points) next time I think I can do them myself, I tried to get copper core plug wires but NAPA said they only have metallic wires so I just left them be for now, friend said plugs looked good, I do have 4 new Auto Lite 437s I will keep for spares, It started right up and ran good, I used the brush hog for an hour and not a problem, even dropped the throttle back a bit it ran so good. What a great site here so much information and so many willing to help.
