Ok,does the rotor button pointing at the front right of the head and the timing marks on the flywheel have to be aligned together

If this is the same 8N side mount as in the other post, timing can't
be determined by where the rotor points in relation to the head.
At least, not yet.

You need to pull the spark plugs and roll the engine over
(I prefer to do it using a hand crank) until you have number one
cylinder at top dead center of compression stroke. You can feel
the compression coming out of the #1 spark plug hole by holding
your finger over it to know you're on compression stroke, then
line up the timing marks on the flywheel. They should already be close.

Where does your rotor point now? That terminal on your rotor
cap is #1. If it is at the front right of the head, great. If not, and
you want it there, take the distributor out and turn it so it points
there. (it really should).

Firing order is 1243 CCW from wherever you put #1.
If the rotor points to the lower left terminal, that one is now #1.

The rotor does have to point to a terminal and the wires have
to be placed accordingly. Then use a timing light to dial it in.

What matters whenever you remove a distributor and start the installation is that the number #1 cylinder is at TDC ... Remember that you can stab the new distributor in so the rotor faces any clocked position HOWEVER the plug wires on the cap must correspond...

In example: You remove distributor, didn't mark rotor position... So now you are lost , you must put #1 cylinder to TDC then to make it easy you stab the distributor in so when it's meshed the rotor points to #1 spark plug... Then obviously you want the cap when installed to have #1 wire placed where the rotor is positioned.

If in the event you stabbed the distributor in and the rotor faced #4 cylinder then you could leave it as is IF you moved all the wires on the cap so that the #1 wire was where the rotor was pointing.

Hope this makes sense.

These are all correct, when each has rotor pointing to #1 wire (tower) when cylinder #1 is a TDC-compression. No one of the four will function any different than the other three!
