Hydraulic Travel

I am new to 8N tractors... I was wondering what is the normal range of travel for the hydraulics? Looking at pictures and videos online, it seems that mine doesn't lift as far as some of the ones I have seen. With the bush hog mounted it doesn't lift very far off the ground... but it does not leak down very fsst... if I leave it up... it will stay up for an hour or so.. will be back on the ground overnight. without anything mounted.. I can stand on the lift bars and they will not budge... (300+ Lbs). When at full lift, I can lift higher by hand.

How is this measured? angle, or inches off the ground?

There are four bolts that hold on the little casting that the quadrant rod goes through. When mine didn't lift as high as I wanted, I loosened those four bolts and tapped the casting towards the rear of the tractor a little. This caused the arms to lift higher. The holes under those four bolts are actually horizontally slotted for that purpose. I would mark where it is right now so you can see how much you move it. Just tap it a little then tighten at least two bolts and try your lift again. It doesn't take much.

Let us know if this works for you.

I did have about 8.5" off the ground down.. and about 21" when raised... I did move the housing back some... now I have about 6.5" down and about 27" when up... big improvement... I will try tweaking it again and see what I can get... Thanks for the ideas
