That depends on exactly what features your valve has. You really need to provide a model number (preffered) and/or a list of valve features to be sure what I am about to say is correct.

Assuming it is a vanilla open center valve with two double acting spools the connections are
  • [*:1f3900b41c]Pump pressure out port to IN port on valve[*:1f3900b41c]OUT/TANK port on valve to hydraulic reservoie[*:1f3900b41c]Work ports on valve to loader cylinders[/list:eek::1f3900b41c]TOH

  • OOOPS! I forgot - this is an old tractor forum and we are talking about a 60 year old loader with single acting lift cylinders. I am so accustomed to modern loaders that almost universally have double acting lift cylinders I totally missed that wrinkle

Assuming your loader has a single acting cylinder on the lift you will only need one of the work ports on the second spool for that cylinder. The unused port should be connected to the hydraulic reservoir. IMO the easiest/cleanest way to do that is install a tee in the OUT port connection on the valve and connect the unused work port to the center tap on the tee using a short hydraulic hose. Use the other leg of the tee to connect the return line going to the reservoir.

(quoted from post at 14:58:47 08/15/17) I thought it was a 19-23 but its a 19-61 Thank You

The 19-61 has single acting cylinders on teh lift so the work port plumbing will be the same. The model of the valve you ourchased is still an open issue.

(quoted from post at 17:01:26 08/15/17) The valve is a surplus center item # 9-7862

I know it well. Just follow my earlier instructions making sure you connect the work port on the lift spool that is furthest from the handle to the tank return line and the other work port to the lift cylinder.

(quoted from post at 17:08:19 08/22/17) toh do you have a diagram on the lines from the old valve to the new Thanks

I do not but it should be easy to figure out:

You have a hose coming from the pump to the valve. That is pressure from the pump and goes to the IN or P port on the new valve.

You have a hose going from the valve to the reservoir. That is the low pressure return line and goes to the OUT or T port on the valve.

You have three hoses going to the cylinders.

The two going to the bucket cylinder go to one set of work ports. You want to connect the hose attached to the retract (roll) port on the bucket cylinder to the work port nearest the handle on the valve. The other hose goes to the other work port for that spool. That gives you roll when the lever is pulled back and dump when it is pushed forward.

The hose going to the lift cylinder should be connected to the work port nearest the handle of the other spool. You need to connect the other work port on that spool to the return line to the sump using a tee. I would put the tee directly on the T port in the valve and use a short hose to connect the unused work port to it. That gives you up when the lever is pulled back and down when it is pushed forward.
