I needed to replace the fuel line on the Fergy, so I ran the engine
with the gas off to minimize the mess and while I was at it I took
the sediment bowl off, dumped it and wiped it out. I put it back
on and snugged it up with my fingers only, making sure it was
centered and on the gasket. Turned the gas on and watched it
fill, along with the gas line and carb I presume. No leaks, so I
walked around to the other side of the tractor to make sure the
line wasn't leaking at the carb. No leaks there either. Then I
heard a tick. Wasn't sure what it was, tractor wasn't running or
moving. Another minute, another tick. About 30 seconds later the
glass sediment bowl shattered all over the tractor and the floor.
I've dropped them and broke them. I've seen them chipped when
not put on right. But I haven't seen one break with no one near it.
I grabbed one of my spares off an N, put it on the same way and
so far no leaks, no breakage. Not even with it running. Just odd.
