I have a guy that wants me to work on his tractor and it has the mount for the 3rd arm broke off....I have been told it is a bolt...which has a big spring and then the cast pc that the adj link attaches to...the rod or bolt is broke off flush with the housing where there is a cover with 3 bolts holding it on...if this is a bolt does it screw into something inside or into the cast pc after the spring?...where do I get new parts...and do I have to take the top cover off to repair this?...I was also told an 8n or ferguson part wont work only 9n or 2n....thanks for any help

Top left of this page YT Tractors sell the parts you require:

Tractor Parts > Ford > 2N > Hydraulic System :

You also require a SERVICE MANUAL...YT Tractor sells manuals:

It sounds like your draft control rod is broken.
That rod goes through the spring and connects to stuff inside. I think there would be several guys here who have parts tractors that would sell you those. If not, give Tractor Rod a call 612 464 4628.
Shipping shouldn't be a big deal. Otherwise they sell those parts new here at YT. You need the draft control plunger and yoke.
Yes you will need to pull the top cover off - the large casting that the seat bolts to. To remove the top cover you must First remove one of the round covers on the side of the rear end housing and disconnect the control linkage inside.
If I were doing the job I would tell the customer you should also replace the hydraulic lift piston under the cover while you are in there. Buy the upgraded NAA style piston and also buy a new top cover gasket.
I don't know your skill level but if you are familiar with wrenching you should be able to do this job without the need for a manual. Otherwise add another $30 to the cost of parts.
Figure a couple/three hours to do the job if you haven't done it before.
2N hydraulic parts.

You need to be aware that when you pull the hydraulic cover you must first remove the side cover plates and disconnect the arms from the control valve.

That top cover is pretty heavy. If you can't hook a chain hoist to it, have some help standing by.

glad to get that info....i'll have to get the manual like everyone says but its nice to know about the rods or I probably would have bent them

thanks for the link that's a big help...im guessing the naa piston is the multiple ring piston? and they are all the same size?...i'll have to measure all that when I get it apart and see what all i'll have to order....thanks again
