For 53 Jubilee Maintenance

Hi Everyone, I've owned a 53 ford for three years now. It's only had light use and has been garage kept. I have not performed any maintenance on the tractor whatsoever. What are the first things I should do? I'm assuming change the motor oil is number one priority? Forgive my greenness, but is there anything special I should know before changing the oil? Type of oil, important steps? Hell, where do I even look on the tractor? Thanks for the help, I've been casually perusing these forums for some time now, upu guys rock.

The first thing you need to do is buy the manuals; see tip # 39. The operators manual will have all the scheduled maintenance you need to be addressing. The I&T FO4 manual will tell you how to do it. The MPC has diagrams & part numbers.

As to the type of oil, etc, see tip # 6.

Post back here w/ any other questions.

I would change motor oil, filter and air filter oil first,
Maybe a motor tuneup,

Then start thinking about changing the transmission and hydraulic fluid, most old tractors, this fluid was almost never changed,

Also the coolant needs to be changed,
Then you know your tractor should be in good repair for some years,
