Swapping Howard Reducer

I have a nice 1950 with less than 1100 hours, ogt it from the original family a few years ago, and has a Howard Reducer transmission in it- and I have a Howard Rotavator. Just picked up another good runner with a Wagner loader, never been repainted, but a litle ruff around the edges and sheetmetal. Also have one that's a Funk 6 conversion that's pretty clean. Have a friend who wants one for parade duty, so thinking about letting her have the nice one, and swapping out the Howard trans for one of the other tractors. How much work is involved, and how do you go about it? Is a split involved, through the holes, ???

The Howard would be nice for parades.

You would have to split at the rear of trans, you would have to drill two holes in the receiving tractor.
Not a hard job, but two splits would have me rethinking it.

As stated a double split is involved. Ain't no quick, fast and in a hurry job. if you are lucky the bearing race will come of with the unit. I've had to split the other side of
the trans and take the top row of gears out to knock it out from the trans side. I've had to do this a couple of times so it could be time consuming. The PTO support, handle and
coupler also get changed out with the unit. As Robert said you will need to drill holes and tap in the other tractor. And some gasket replacement. Some people are afraid of
splitting a tractor, I don't know why, I have three tractors split going on now and it ain't no big deal. Don't get me wrong there is some time and work involved so it's really up
to you. Should you decide to go for it and run into problems just ask.
Another thing I would add would be before you start this whole process would be to pull you top cover and roll thru the gears to see the wear and if any teeth are badly worn or
chipped. Then some repair work will be involved.

With the splitting of both tractors and
drilling tapping and replacing gaskets
you likely would be time ahead just to
put the good sheetmetal on the other
tractor and paint the rest nicely
