Seat options???

I've got a '52 8n. Love the little thing. Use it more than I ever dreamt possible. The seat makes for some long days sometimes. Don't know if it's my height or my weight. Either way, it'd be nice to have a cushioned seat that was back a few more inches. I'm 6'6" and 290 lbs. probably have to have a sturdy seat. I don't want to fall off the back of the thing.

agree with showcrop that the tsc seat is pretty good.
about a hundred bucks on sale still I think.
Wish all my tractors had one....but...a hundred bucks

couple low buck options,
-get a seat spring off a 9N-2N, bolt a nice Michigan seat off a junk smaller tractor to it.
-Most of my tractors get a pressure treated 2x4 piece under the seat spring, and longer bolts to replace the studs.
-That square metal tubing with holes (looks sorta like road sign post) has hole spacing that matches the seat bolts..handy

The Old Hokie made a seat adjuster a few years ago. I contacted him about making me one, but he said it was a one off, and there were
no more. I bought 2 lengths of steel channel and made a seat bracket that moved the seat back about 3 inches. Just the thing for my
bad knees!

Googled that Tractor Supply seat. It looks comfortable. Will it bolt right on, or will I need to do some fabricating?

You will most likely need to do some fabricating. I have done a couple different ones. It doesn't take much, just a plate under the new seat, and a plate to bolt to the tractor housing, and a piece in between to raise it a couple inches.

One thing about that seat though is plan on keeping it under cover. Two years life if left out doors.

Went a picked up the black seat from TSC. On sale this week for $89.99 btw. I measured, and I actually sit about 10" higher. Because my problem was mostly the length of my legs, then that's an improvement. One of the things, that I really like about my 8n, was the low profile for getting under limbs. I guess I've lost some of that ability. On the original seat, I would actually bottom the thing out on some bumps. I was always a little afraid it'd snap off. This new seat has a mysterious wobble, that I can't seem to get out of it. So, I didn't really lose my fear of falling off the back. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the seat.

Ford made a few seats to replace the original pan seat. One was the MONROE E-Z Ride Seat -with a big honkin' spring underneath but weight restrictions limited it to 150#. Next was the 'Rest-O-Ride' seat that was much better, had more weight capabilities, and used the original pan seat. Have you tried one of the aftermarket seat pads/cushions sold all around town these days? Those cheap tsc and aftermarket seats sold with the armrests are junk. You can't maneuver with the armrests there...trust me I tried one.

I'm not sure what seat everyone is talking about but I installed an aftermarket seat on my Ford 641 7 years ago and have been happy with it it beats the heck out of the original pan seat, this seat is adjustable foe wt and forward and back but it was to far forward with its original mt hole so I drilled a couple more in the base and got it moved back, the only 5thing is the seat pan is a bit short it would be nice if it were a little longer.

I just purchased a MF202. The steel pan had no padding on it and no spring under it. The first time I drove and hit a few little minor bumps it almost knocked my teeth loose. I promptly purchased this seat from Yesterday's Tractor.

I love the seat. It's actually very springy and you can bounce yourself up and down on it. It adjusts for how springy you want it. It also adjusts front to back.

It uses the same two bolts that hold your big seat spring on. It will fit your 8N. I will eventually buy one for my 8N also. Just go to 8N parts and you will find the seat listed there. It's the "Universal Seat Black" for $182.49.

After using the TSC seat a little while, I'm not quit sold on it. Sits to high, and has a lot of sway in it. Probably should have checked this site first, but there is a seat on here that looks pretty good. Appears to bolt to to the spring steel, that holds my seat pan. I'd definitely sit lower. Anybody ever had one of those?
