OT - welding stick part three

again, thanks to all who've replied in the first two topics. really appreciate the help :)

he went with the 1/8" 6011. he started out at 75 amps DC+, and then dialed it up to 85 amps. he was MUCH happier with the results this time around. unlike the first try, i haven't taken it for a test drive yet. this time the plan has changed. hopefully i survive the mosquitos long enough to grind the new batch of welds down some as prep for welding an oddball assortment of scrap steel, most of which is heavier than the deck itself, over the welded areas. i'll have to trim the heavy belt/pulley cover some, as 2 of the pieces for reinforcing are going to be the way of it sitting flat. it's going to look ridiculous, but if it works, i'm a happy boy.
 
I would just grind down the weld and if there are no voids, then use it as is. If there are voids, weld over them and grind it again. You might use
it for another twenty years and never have another problem, so don't make it harder than it has to be.
