Glad to hear it didn't get really out of hand for you. Funny thing...last week I suddenly starting about what I would do if one of my tractors caught fire. I went out and bought this extinguisher. About time since I've had the 8N for around ten years. Since I have two tractors, I just bought another holder and put it on the other one. I can only drive one at a time so I'll just switch the extinguisher between the two.

Caryc .... that's a good idea, we do the same here. However just remember two things... one the type a extingushier you need on hand is a ABC multi purpose type that can be used on fires that are fueled by solids, flammable liquids, or are electrical. And second... it's a good idea to every month give it a good vigorous shaking and even upside down a few times when you also check the pressure is good.

Those dry Chem extinguishers espically when outside tend to have the powder in them settle into one big solid clump if not shaken up every so often, otherwise when ya go to use it all you get is a poof a compressed air.

I speak from expirence a a seven year voulenteer at the local fire department. Seen a few tractor fires and operators were surprised when they went to use their extinguisher that had not been touched in years and all they got out was a lil poof.

Sorry to hear about the fire, but glad there were no major injuries.
The tractor can be saved

I don't leave the extinguisher outside on the tractor. It's on a wall in the house when I'm not using a tractor.

Sorry to hear that. Some can be saved and some Just took to much heat to be worth the trouble like this '41 I picked up years ago. I only bought it because the guy wouldn't
sell the 2 bottom plow separate(stored in a different section of the barn that didn't get hit with fire). Sits behind my barn and still pick parts of it.
IMO if the fires hot enough to toast the tires like this one they generally aren't worth the time, money and effort to save them Unless it has some family history or a low
number '39.

I bought this 3600 diesel that was burned.
Had a 3400 D with a broken crank
So I started with a pressure washer one
Sat morning then starter swapping all the
peripherals- inj pump, starter, radiator,
etc, etc. Had it running that afternoon
and did some mowing with it.
I never did finish it. Most everything but
the tin was done. Then a guy wanted to
swap a 4000 + cash for it so I let it go.

That first pic looks a lot like my 4000SU when I traded for it, only tire that burnt was the right front.
That was 8 years and several hundred hours ago, the SU's compact size works better in our poultry barns than my regular 4000.

Going to get a fire extinguisher for mine and bolt it to the fender. I went through the entire wiring harness when I
bought mine and could not believe how many places the wire had no covering or was worn down etc.

who to believe , :D ,s
I'm sure she'll be good in a couple weeks,I figured Royse would say it'll buff right out,you the man with Krispy

"I figured Royse would say it'll buff right out,you the man with Krispy"

Thanks Patina, I will admit that it took a lot of buffing.
Stinky, filthy, nasty buffing. More a labor of love than profit. :)
