Brought the old gal home late yesterday evening, was told that it was a 2N. Just wire brushed the engine block and see that it has an 8N engine, serial #8N227318 (1949 vintage), is there any other clues to distinguish it from a 2N vs 9N, the radius arms are different on each side also. And check out the farmerized homemade sway bar on the right lift arm, if there's any other identifiable casting numbers to prove it's a 2N vs a 9N please holler back...

be sure to replace the one I-beam radius arm with the other style. my chart says it's worth 1.25 extra HP, due to the improved aerodynamic profile ;)

The dash change to your style dash was made at 80,770. There was only about 8K more until the end of the '41 9n run so more the likely it's a 2n. Check underneath on the hydraulic pump to see if there is a date code. Also check on rear axle trumpets

Flat rear hubs--3 speed transmission(3 fwd and 1 reverse) = 2N -------converted to 12 volts------8N engine

The 9n ended about 88k in 1941. The dash you have came into effect at 80,770 so with about 8k left until the end of the '41 run it's likely that it's a 2n.
Check underneath on the hydraulic pump for a date code also on the axle trumpets.

What's that electrical monstrosity behind the dash? I think it may have a Sherman with a farmerized shift handle -your second to last picture. Where's the starter button? is steering box aluminum or cast iron? Also, there a are but few 2N part prefixes so one can't go by that. The right side adjustable lift is not original. Non script hood says 2N. Extra gauge (temp???) not original and so many holes on dash panel who knows what else he had. Yep, you got a mutt all right.

Looks like a 1943 2N war tractor that has been converted to a homemade electric start and rubber tires after WWII was over and has a 8N engine installed.

Scott, why a 43 and not a 44,45, 46, or 47 year model, what is it that you can say tells us it's a 1943 model ?

It has a cover where the starter button and starter solenoid goes, this was only used in late 1942 and early 1943.
