Hello all, new to the forum:

Recently acquired a Ford 8n with a Dearborn loader attached. The control valve is leaking pretty bad and am having a hard time locating a repair kit to replace the seals etc.. The valve appears to be made by Parker. Does anyone here know of a place where I can start? I reside in SW Montana near Livingston.

Thank you,
John

Baum Hydraulics has a lot of rebuild kits - you will need the model number of the valve. If you can't find it in the catalog you could call tech support. That said, unless it's a fancy high dollar valve I would probably purchase a new replacement. You can get a very nice two spool joystick loader valve for $125....

I also am having trouble finding a replacement valve for an 8N. The bucked only lifts, has a neutral position and a gravity down. So there are 3 connections to the valve. It does not currently settle in a neutral position, so it slowly moves from a kind of central position, but eventually drops. (someone added a spring to attempt to hold it in place, but that does not work well) If I sent you pictures could you tell me of a replacement valve?

With three connections your valve is almost certainly single acting open center with spring retiurn to center. Here is one that should work fine as a replacement:

You could also use a double acting valve as long as you tee the unused work port back into the tank return line:

Personally I would opt for the DA valve on the possibility I might opt to replace the SA cylinders with DA cylinders at some time in the future.

I took my Parker valve to a local hydraulic repair shop and they informed me it was too badly scored for repair. Ended up buying a new unit that they replaced one of the DA spools with a SA spool. Price was about $125. I saved the worn out parts in case I ever have the chance ($$) to get it cleaned up and rechromed to size.
